Aldi Student Meal Plans UK
The useful thing about Aldi for a student is not only that it is cheap. It is that the range is small enough to learn. Six meals cooked confidently beats thirty attempted badly, and a store with two options per line pushes you towards the first.

Where to go next from Aldi Student Meal Plans UK
Learn Six Meals, Not Thirty
The first year of cooking for yourself is mostly about repetition. A short list of meals you can make without a recipe, from ingredients you always have, is worth more than a wide repertoire you need to look up - and it is much cheaper, because the same eight or ten ingredients keep getting used rather than half-used.
Aldi suits that because the core range barely changes. The chicken, mince, rice, pasta, tinned tomatoes, frozen vegetables and eggs are there every week at roughly the same price, so the meals you learn stay buildable.
Plan for the Kitchen You Actually Have
A shared kitchen means limited hob space at six in the evening, a fridge shelf you may not fully control, and washing up that is not always yours. These plans assume that: short ingredient lists, few pans, and meals that survive being cooked at an odd hour.
It also means the freezer and the cupboard do more work than the fridge. Frozen vegetables, tinned pulses and dried staples cannot be borrowed by a housemate or go off while you are out, which is a practical advantage as much as a financial one.

Frequently Asked Questions
What should a student buy on the first Aldi shop?
The staples that appear in everything: oil, salt, pepper, a couple of spices, stock cubes, rice, pasta, tinned tomatoes, tinned beans, eggs, frozen vegetables. It costs more than a normal week and then makes every following week cheap.
Do these plans work in a shared kitchen?
They are written for one. Short ingredient lists, few pans, and a lean on cupboard and freezer items rather than fresh food that needs using within days or sitting in a communal fridge.
